Why Vegan? How a Vegan Diet Can Save Your Health and Money

November 8, 2011

Hesh Goldstein describes the numerous ethical, health, and environmental advantages of a vegan diet. He explains how the US "Health Care Crisis," so hotly debated in Washington recently, is in actuality the result of the government's own USDA agricultural subsidies, which give financial aid only to the unhealthiest products of US agriculture. When combined with the advertising tax deductions given by the IRS and exploited by the unhealthiest offerings of the US food industry, we have an explanation for the blackout of real health news by the ad driven American media. Hesh Goldstein has been hosting a radio show called "Health Talk" since 1981 when he used to run Down To Earth. He pays for his air time and has no sponsors, so his honesty is not compromised. It airs on Saturdays from 8 am to 9 am on K108, 1080 on the AM dial. At 71 Hesh still plays two to three hours of basketball a week and teaches women's self defense classes - based on 20+ years of Wing Chun training. He has been a vegetarian since 1975 and a vegan since 1990. He has no illnesses and takes no medications. Hesh feels if he can do it anyone can.

My health is great eating meat. Bloodwork is always perfect. I also have the money to spend on what I like to eat so not worried about saving money plus meat is always on sale.

@celt130 Meat isn’t bad for your health all the info out there saying it is well thats vegan propaganda trying to get there way and for us not to eat animals. Meat is perfectly healthy and doesn’t cause diseases. My whole family on down the family tree are meat eaters and never a single meat related illness and they live old. Don’t believe all the vegan biased researches and propaganda.

@celt130 : Okinawans are omnivores and they have the most centenarians per capita in the world. Their diet is highly plant-based but they do consume pork and fish.

I heard somebody said veggies and fruits provides your body with nutrition while starches like potatoes provides the body fuel to burn.

Strangly Inuits with there 90%/99% meat/fish diet didn’t know heart diseases and almost no cancers. The Abkhaze people who are well known to live to very old ages are omnivores who eat fatty meat.More and more omnivores get to ages 80/90/100 years old,do you have any explanation on the subject that meat would be bad for your health?
