Becoming a Vegetarian

May 14, 2011

Americans are fat. It's a fact. Could trying a vegetarian lifestyle increase our quality of life? Will an aging baby boomer population consider this to help ward off the effects of old age?

I went vegetarian cold turkey 7 years ago. The last thing I ate was a home made cheeseburger. Never going back!!

Much, much respect. So well done. I gave up meat, poultry, and fish cold turkey 25 years ago this month. My parrot died a month ago – we were very close. I love your awareness that eating animal flesh is akin to consuming someone’s mate. Someone recently told me that animals don’t have feelings. I went home and cried. How one treats animals is a reflection of their character and level of compassion. Peace.

I love how people think that the reason Americans are fat is because we consume fat. Do people still believe that eating fat makes you fat? I have no problem if you’re a vegetarian for moral reasons but the people who claim that its healthier than a diet consisting of meat are delusional.

I became vegetarian in one day and didn’t even crave for meat. I guess everyone’s different. From childhood I always ate lots of fruit and vegetables and not a lot of meat.

@freddythecanine
search for some indian recipes on google.. since 30 percent of indians are vegetarians and even the rest have meat occassionally , there is a lot of variety of vegetarian dishes.. Though it might take some time to get used to the taste.. indian food is pretty spicy..

Thank you so much for sharing this information.
Life, and the whole world. Would be better off if we were all veg/vegan.

japan has the longest living people in the world, they also eat meat. so, how can this be explained, in fact, the only country and countries, that have health issues, is the united states, and countries that farm like, and eat food from the united states. why do veg, all think farmers will keep farm animals as pets is we all became veg, ?

I want to be a vegetarian but I have no idea what to make for meals

allicellobasketball October 1, 2010 at 8:42 am

I went vegetarian all at once. It wasn’t that difficult. Personally, I think it’s better to give it up all together and kick the meat addiction right away.

To everyone who uses human canines as proof that we are supposed to be omnivorous: Chimpanzees have much larger canines than we do and they eat much less meat. Only the males have particularly long canines, while females have shorter ones. Their canines are used to show dominance over other males, not to chew prey! Now since we humans are less aggressive than chimps, our canines shrunk and became less sexually dimorphic.

we can finish off the remaining animals that have been killed, but you do not have to keep breeding them, smart one!

AnElephantThatPaints October 1, 2010 at 10:05 am

You do not BELIEVE they have feelings, you KNOW they have feelings!

Your right.

jedihunter176 October 1, 2010 at 11:53 am

Humans are omnivores. You wanna know why all these vegetarians look so dang skinny? They’re starving themselves of nutrition they need.

kaddany4644 October 1, 2010 at 12:15 pm

People are fat because they eat to much…srsly..

DasTuppen October 1, 2010 at 12:19 pm

i love being vegetarian. i want to become vegan the problem is my family doesn’t buy vegan foods. anyways….i absolutely believe animals have feelings; that they feel love and pain and joy and fear.

Boogiefan3d October 1, 2010 at 12:41 pm

I don’t look down on ppl who are vegetarians and I am not sure what a vegan is aside from jokes I have heard about them eating nothing that cast a shadow lol don,t know about that. Anyway not sure being a vegetarian would be for me my brother on the other hand is its has just never bothered me to see animals killed for food and I lead a healthy lifestyle so while I dont understand it I admire your drive to fallow you path also sorry for my horrible typing not expecting a grade lol. 5/5
