Just slowly decrease your meat intake but make sure that you start including vegetarian protein items in. Lentils are a good source of protein.

pametalhead350 February 1, 2012 at 1:25 am

if your really thinking about that, then you need a good shock. vegetarians are retarded.

jimlive247 February 1, 2012 at 1:57 am

Just eat alot of beans and nuts to replace the protein of meat. You’ll be fine and there won’t be a shock.

leowin1948 February 1, 2012 at 2:08 am

There will be no shock.Simply stop eating all non-vegetarian food

I’m a vegetarian, and it was easy for me because i didn’t really like the taste of meat beforehand. I would recommend slowly cutting meat out of your diet. reducing red meat first, then only eating chicken and fish until you eventually dont eat meat at all. The slower process will make it easier. also, if you feel like the dramatic lack of meat in the diet will affect your health, take iron and B12 supplements as well. good luck! vegetarian is the way to go! xx

Did you just watch the episode of the Simpsons where they stop eating meat and get sick? You won’t “shock your body.” Don’t worry about that. There are tons of vegetarian diets and recipes online. Try “about.com.”

love_2b_curious February 1, 2012 at 6:59 am

Forget about it! You’ll ruin your system! Have you ever known a vegetarian that looked healthy? NO! That’s because they don’t get the necessary complex proteins that one gets only from meat!
Sorry… just had to set someone straight on this vegetarian crap!

No problem.. just stop eating meat and get your proteins from milk, etc(cheese) and other nutritious foods. I am not a vegetarian but I eat like a vegetarian as I seldom eat meat.. EXCEPT chicken. I love animals and hate to think of a cow being brutally murdered and then I eat it.

Russian T February 1, 2012 at 10:17 am

Quit eating your friends.

Karthik S February 1, 2012 at 10:43 am

Just try to love the animals.. You will hate killing them and eating..

Tan T February 1, 2012 at 11:42 am

Get yourself a really good recipe book and read about what you need to replace the nutrients that you no longer get from meat, protein, iron, etc.

That’s how I started loads of years ago.

Find the foods and recipes that excite your taste bubs and imagination. Don’t let yourself getting into a boring rut with food. The more varied your diet, the better balanced your diet will be.

Also, ignore meat eaters who will feel threatened because they don’t understand your diet.

Good luck and enjoy the change in diet, you will feel better for it.

aussiegirl February 1, 2012 at 11:45 am

Your body will not go into shock and you will very quickly start to feel better. Tofu was my lifesaver when I made this choice as it is so versatile. As someone before me said, buy a cook book or go online amd familiarise yourself with recipes to see how easy it is to eat well without meat. Have fun….

peace_and_a_rose February 1, 2012 at 12:09 pm

Do it gradually by eliminating the “heavier” meats like pork and beef, then work your way through the other types until you have eliminated all meat from your diet. also, check out the vegetarian starter kit that PETA offers on their website. It’s free and full of good info for vegetarians who are just starting.

LornaJane February 1, 2012 at 12:13 pm

I suggest using a gradual approach, because there is more to being vegetarian than just stopping eating meat. You need to learn new recipes and you need to learn where to get all the nutrients from that you used to get from eating meat.

1) Stop eating red meat first.
2) Figure out which meals you cook are already vegetarian. Probably you each a few veggie meals a week without noticing. Mushroom omelet, macaroni & cheese, risotto, breakfast cereal etc.
3) Buy a couple of good vegetarian cook books and gradually start learning some everyday type recipes.
4) Read up on nutrition try:

Here are some opinions on food and diet:

All feedback appreciated.
5) Stop eating chicken and fish
6) Watch out that you aren’t eating too much cheese and egg. These are high in fat and cholesterol. Some people think that this is all vegetarians eat; we don’t. Its more about vegetables, nuts, fruits, whole grains, beans and legumes.
