I Am a Vegan but I Want to Convert Back to Eating Meat. How Can I Do This Without Gaining Weight?

July 31, 2011

I have been a Vegan for about 6 months. I was a Vegetarian for about 5 months. How can I go from being Vegan > Vegetarian > To eating everything else. How can I do this without gaining weight back? I've heard stories that people will gain weight back. Can I eat stuff in small portions to get my body use to it or what?

what makes you think you will gain weight??
A 3-4 ounce portion of lean healthy meat added to your meal won’t suddenly make you balloon up.
You will be eating less of something else so it will balance out.

Doubt you will have issues due to the small amount of time you spent having either diet. Small amounts is the way to go in any diet!

Decrease your overall calories and increase your level of exercise.

Vegetarianism is not a weight loss plan.

Biologically you’re an omnivore whether you eat meat or not. You shouldn’t have any problem adding it back into your diet. Don’t bust a gut on KFC or spicy BBQ at first. But if you eat sensibly for the first few meals, you shouldn’t have any problem digesting meat.

Meat is higher in calories than most vegetables. But the calories are better calories than those in processed grains like rice and pasta. A three oz serving of beef is less than 200 calories, depending on the cut. You can enjoy meat without packing on the pounds, but you’ll still have to watch the number of calories you eat versus the calories you burn. Good luck….

BTW, did you know that almost half of the fat in beef is the same kind of fat as is in olive oil, monounsaturated?
